Recruitment Process

J.P. Morgan's recruiting process varies according to which business you apply to.

You will need to complete an application form, indicating the role that you feel suits you best.  You can start applying for the 2008 Vukhoni Graduate Programme and the 2008 Cape Town Graduate Training Programme from June 1, 2008 up to August 30, 2008 (see Deadlines section for further information).

There are various businesses within J.P. Morgan that you can apply to. Essentially you can choose between Investment Banking (Johannesburg-based) and Investment Administration (Cape Town-based).

Your first meeting with us could consist of interviews based on your past experiences and accomplishments as well as your suitability and interest in J.P. Morgan. The interviews will be held on campus or at J.P. Morgan offices in either Johannesburg or Cape Town, depending on where you are based at the time. Your interviews will be with representatives from the business and Human Resources.

If these prove successful, you may then be invited to further rounds of interviews. These will focus on how well you would fit within a particular group in the division to which you have applied. You will have at least two rounds of interviews, though it varies from business to business.

At this stage some divisions may also invite you to attend a business specific assessment centre which will involve a number of competency-based exercises. Assessment centres are not only a great way for us to determine your suitability for the firm, but they also allow you to get a better understanding of the kind of work you would be doing on a day-to-day basis.

For some positions, you may also be asked to take numerical or verbal tests at some stage during the selection process.

If you wish to apply to the Investment Bank you should fill in this Application Form for any of the following business areas: Investment Banking; Markets; Operations, Finance & Business Management and Technology.

If you are applying to our Investment Administration arm through Worldwide Securities Services in Cape Town, please fill in this Application Form.

If you are successful in applying to the Investment Banking, Markets or Operations, Finance & Business Management and Technology divisions, you will be based in Johannesburg. If you are made an offer by Worldwide Securities services, you will be based in Cape Town. You would be expected to start with J.P. Morgan in mid-January 2008.
