With $14 trillion in assets under custody, J.P. Morgan Worldwide Securities Services leverages its scale and capabilities to help clients optimise efficiency, mitigate risk and enhance revenue through its custody and investor services as well as securities clearance and trust services. WSS provides a full administration service to investment managers, regardless of where the funds are registered or managed.

The South African branch of WSS has offices in Johannesburg and Cape Town, employs more than 200 people and administers about $90 billion in assets. We handle more than 2,000 instruments, reconcile more than 400 bank accounts a day and process more than 550,000 settlement transactions a year. We produce daily Net Asset Value calculations, which form a key part of valuations, and serves as an independent control to the Unit Trust industry.

What is WSS?

Investment administration is the core business of WSS and is central to J.P. Morgan’s global systems architecture. WSS provides investment managers, life companies, multi-manager, unit trust management companies and hedge funds with objective information emanating from the administration of their assets. And because WSS is independent from any asset gatherer in South Africa, our clients continue to turn to J.P. Morgan to help them compete in the global economy.

You will gain experience in the administration of:

  • Equities & Derivatives (on and off-market)
  • Bonds
  • Money Market Instruments
  • Unit Trusts
  • Investment Taxation
  • Investment Performance
  • Client Reporting
  • Fund Accounting
  • Hedge Fund servicing

J.P. Morgan WSS aims to train graduates as multi-skilled investment administrators. You will get hands-on experience in your role as a portfolio administrator and gain exposure to a variety of teams across the administration business.
